Athena
Athena was the end of an era for our family; the last of our three girls to leave us. On 3/1/26, we had to make the decision to say goodbye. I rescued Athena and her sister, Xena, when they were just a few weeks old and loved them deeply from that moment on. She would have turned 12 years old on 3/13/26. Athena was there for me through everything… the losses, the changes, and the growth of our family. She was the constant through both the highs and the lows. A devoted protector, she loved our family fiercely, especially my son. She was wonderfully goofy, with a larger‑than‑life personality that filled our home. I don’t know how we would have made it through losing her sisters, Xena and Leia, without Athena’s steadfast love, which makes losing her even harder. She loved car rides, walks, family hikes, snuggling all the way under the covers, and, of course, food. Always expressive and easy to read, Athena was the glue that held our family together. I will remember her forever. Thoughts of her will always be filled with laughter and love.
